Brighton Solutions is a leader in Engineering and Technical search. We are currently seeking a Sr Staff Engineer, specialized in Structural Engineering, to join the team.
In this role, the Sr Staff Engineer will perform duties of a technical and often complex nature including determining the code compliance of building products, materials and methods; developing acceptance criteria; and writing evaluation reports.
In performing this effort, your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating test reports, calculations, and other technical data submitted by evaluation-report applicants.
- Developing technical criteria for the acceptance of innovative building products, materials and methods that are alternatives to what may be specified in the building code.
- Preparing correspondence and draft reports regarding the code compliance of products.
- Providing expert assistance to building departments throughout the United States.
- Represent the organization in key conferences, committees and other meetings.
- Travel as necessary to attend conferences, meetings, speaking engagements, and other functions.
- Interested or willing to evaluate products such as, but not limited to, glass guardrails, structural insulated panels, metal composite panels, magnesium oxide boards, plastic sheathing, plastic composite decking, along with other materials besides your basic steel, concrete, and wood products.
We are seeking a highly qualified individual, with a background including:
- An accredited University degree in engineering.
- Professional registration/license to practice engineering (FE / PE / SE)
- Career-level proficiency in at least one engineering specialty, and foundation-level proficiency in at least one additional specialty.
- At least five years of experience in the construction industry, building code development or enforcement, or product testing.
- Experience with modern design and construction methods and materials.
