Purpose:
To work in support of the Plant manager in managing employees, overseeing plant projects, and ensuring that teams meet production projections.
Reporting to:
Operations Manager
Authority over:
Plant Operators
Requirements:
- Proficient in at least English – Speak, Read and Write
- bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, business or a related field
- At least 2 years experience
Skills and competences
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Plan and draw up a production schedule.
- Define propose and implement the annual production schedule.
- Cost management of products and assist with new product costings models.
- Analyse budgets and continuously control production costs and identify /rectify waste measures.
- Manage all activities within the production process, including maintenance and the workforce.
- Handle logistics, warehousing and stock of raw materials used in production.
- Create and implement organisational/ production changes on an operative level.
- Focus on growing business and revenue by implementing necessary changes to the product/production line to enter new markets or grow existing territories.
- Decide on and order the resources that are required and ensure stock levels remain adequate.
- Select equipment and take responsibility for its maintenance.
- Set the quality standards.
- Monitor the production process and adjust schedules as required.
- Monitor productivity rates and product standards and implement quality control programmes.
- Organise the repair of any damaged equipment
- Liaise with different departments, teams, and companies e.g suppliers, managers, and clients.
- Ensure that health and safety guidelines are always followed.
- Ensure customer orders are completed on time and to budget.
- Ensure that quality standards and targets are met.
- Work with other management personnel to implement the company's goals and policies.
- Collate and analyse data, putting together production reports for both factory managers and customers
Key Performance areas:
Key performance areas include, but are not limited to:
- Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is maintained at all times
- Achieve the required company quality standards ensuring both internal and external customer satisfaction
- Ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are monitored, and targets achieved
- Liaise and coordinate with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications
- Communicate with the teams by utilising the visual management, delivering shift briefs with focus on quality, cost and delivery, and gathering ideas for improvement
- Drive performance of team members, giving direction and feedback to aid good performance
- Ensure safe working practices are maintained and 'Standard Operations' adhered to
- Ensure that non-conformance is challenged, and countermeasures are agreed and implemented
- Motivate the team to create a high-performance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced
- Through the utilisation of lean manufacturing techniques, strive to exceed the Company targets in productivity, efficiency, and quality on a continuous basis
- Report and act upon plant or machinery breakdowns to maintenance technicians
- Promote Total Productive Maintenance procedures to further improve the availability of the line
- Contribute to the improvement of working procedures by constantly looking for solutions to ensure the best productivity results of her/his machinery group and ensuring compliance with procedures, operating instructions and work instructions
- Ensure that internal delivery processes are adhered to support dispatch time windows
- Support the resolution of Customer concerns. Identify and eliminate root cause using robust countermeasures. Sustain the corrective actions to eliminate repeat issues
