Technical Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Technical Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £17.96 - £23.47 per hour

Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Technical Officer to provide administrative and technical support to the Waste & Cleaning service within Southwark Council. The role will focus on monitoring service requests, creating statistical reports, and supporting service delivery improvements. This is a key role in ensuring accurate data management, efficient administration, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and create statistical information associated with service requests and failures.
  • Input data accurately into spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), SAP, and other systems, ensuring information is up to date and reliable.
  • File and archive records both electronically and manually in line with council policies.
  • Analyse tonnage and service data, providing recommendations for improving efficiency and delivery.
  • Deal with written and oral enquiries and complaints, providing clear and professional responses.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), including Maths and English.

Experiences:

  • At least 1 year of experience delivering front-line services or managing service-related data/contracts.
  • Experience using SAP or similar systems for finance, monitoring, and reporting (desirable).
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
  • Strong knowledge of data entry, monitoring, and statistical reporting processes.
  • Understanding of customer service principles, ideally within a public sector environment.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in handling data and documentation.
