Job Description:
We are working closely with local authority in Liverpool to assist with the appointment of a Tribunal and Complaints Officer, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £301.78- £397.16 per day
Summary:
The Tribunal and Complaints Officer – Interims provides specialist short-term support within Liverpool City Council's Children and Young People's Services to manage and reduce the backlog of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) complaints and tribunal cases. The postholder is responsible for coordinating, investigating, and resolving complex complaints and SEND Tribunal proceedings, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, legal timescales, and the Council's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of SEND complaints and First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability) appeals from receipt through to resolution.
- Coordinate the Council's response to SEND Tribunal appeals, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and tribunal procedures.
- Liaise with SEND Case Officers, educational psychologists, schools, health professionals, legal services, and other stakeholders to gather evidence and prepare tribunal documentation.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to managers and colleagues on SEND legislation, complaints handling, and tribunal procedures.
- Produce performance reports and management information relating to complaints, tribunals, and statutory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant professional qualification, or significant equivalent experience in SEND, education, complaints management, law, or public administration.
Essentials:
- Proven experience managing SEND complaints and First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability) processes.
- Excellent knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice (2015), Education Act 1996, the Equality Act 2010, and relevant SEND legislation.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
