Employment and Skills Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of an Employment and Skills Officer, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £21.20 - £29.31 per hour

Summary:

Lead employer engagement activities within a high-performing Employment and Skills Team, supporting the delivery of successful initiatives such as Walsall Works. Focus on building strong partnerships with employers, training providers, and stakeholders to create opportunities for local unemployed residents and deliver positive employment outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate engagement with employers, partners, and training providers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships to identify job and training opportunities
  • Represent the service at job fairs, employer visits, and partnership events
  • Analyse labour market trends and economic data to inform service delivery
  • Design and support tailored recruitment and workforce development solutions
  • Work collaboratively to deliver employability programmes and achieve outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent relevant work experience

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in employer engagement and relationship management
  • Strong project coordination skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Ability to influence decisions and build long-term partnerships
  • Experience working with employability, skills, or workforce development programmes
  • Willingness to travel for meetings, events, and employer engagement

  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
