Board and Governance Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Northamptonshire to assist with the appointment of a Board and Governance Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £18.36 - £23.24 per hour
Summary:
The Board and Governance Officer role is responsible for managing the organisation's Board and Committee governance functions, ensuring effective meeting coordination, statutory compliance, and governance best practice. The role supports Board Members and senior stakeholders, maintains governance records, and oversees the full governance cycle while ensuring transparency and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Board and Committee meetings, including agendas, reports, and meeting packs.
- Attend meetings, take accurate minutes, and monitor actions through to completion.
- Manage governance calendars, Board records, registers, and declarations of interest.
- Support statutory compliance, including Companies House filings and governance documentation.
- Coordinate AGMs, EGMs, Board recruitment, onboarding, inductions, and appraisal programmes.
Essentials:
- Previous experience supporting Boards, Committees, or governance functions.
- Experience organising meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking actions.
- Knowledge of governance best practice and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience maintaining governance records, registers, and supporting Companies House filings.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
