We are working closely with a local authority in Rugby to assist with the appointment of an Interim Waste Services Improvement & Operational Resilience Consultant, on a 6-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £27.50- £34.87 per hour
Summary:
The Interim Waste Services Improvement & Operational Resilience Consultant will provide specialist expertise to support Rugby Borough Council's Waste Services Improvement Programme. The consultant will lead improvement initiatives, review operational processes, implement best practice, and coach managers to build long-term organisational capability. This consultancy assignment is focused on delivering lasting operational resilience and is not a replacement for the substantive Waste Services Team Manager position.
Responsibilities:
- Review existing waste operations and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, governance, productivity, and customer service.
- Improve operational performance through performance monitoring, service reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support mobilisation of new waste services, operational projects, and implementation of legislative or policy changes.
- Encourage innovation, continuous improvement, and best practice across waste service operations.
- Review and enhance induction programmes, staff training, competency frameworks, and workforce development processes.
Qualifications:
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in Waste Management, Environmental Services, Operations Management, Public Services, or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive knowledge of waste operations, operational compliance, and Health & Safety legislation.
Essentials:
- Extensive experience managing waste services or a comparable frontline operational service.
- Experience designing and implementing operational procedures, management systems, and governance frameworks.
- Experience improving operational performance through data analysis, reporting, and performance management.
