Refuse/ Recycling Driver

 Job Description:

We are working closely with a local authority in Carmarthenshire to assist with the appointment of a Refuse/ Recycling Driver, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £14.32- £18.72 per hour

Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Refuse/Recycling Driver to support the delivery of efficient waste and recycling collection services across Carmarthenshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation of refuse and recycling collection vehicles, supervising the collection crew, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and providing a high-quality service to residents and businesses. 

Responsibilities:

  • Safely drive and operate allocated refuse/recycling collection vehicles in accordance with road traffic legislation and Council procedures.
  • Ensure all waste and recycling collections are completed efficiently while maintaining high health and safety standards.
  • Assist with loading refuse and recycling containers when required to support service delivery.
  • Use initiative to resolve collection issues, including contamination, access problems, and unique customer requirements.
  • Support other collection crews and assist with route optimisation to improve service efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Category C Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) driving licence.
  • Willingness to undertake ongoing job-related training and professional development.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relevant to waste collection operations.

Essentials:

  • Previous experience driving Category C refuse, recycling, or other heavy goods vehicles.
  • Experience operating vehicle power mechanisms, plant, or associated machinery.
  • Experience supervising or providing guidance to operational teams.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
