Deputy Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Deputy Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.35 - £24.06 per hour

Summary:

The Deputy Officer will assist the Manager with the day-to-day management and administration of the home, ensuring that regulatory standards are met and that children and young people receive high-quality, person-centred care. The home will support young people for stays of up to 12 weeks, with the aim of understanding their needs and securing longer-term placements that can better meet those needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Manager with the effective management and administration of the Children's Home.
  • Ensure young people receive sensitive, individualised care that meets their social, racial, medical, psychological, educational, cultural, physical and health and wellbeing needs.
  • Empower young people to have a voice in decisions about their lives and futures, while promoting independence.
  • Build positive relationships with families, professionals and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote consultation, participation and inclusion in the care and decision-making process.
  • Support young people to integrate into the local community and make appropriate use of local facilities.

Qualification:

  • Relevant qualification meeting the equivalent criteria for Social Care Wales registration.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People).

Essentials:

  • Proven experience at a senior level within a residential childcare setting.
  • Experience in managing and supporting staff teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff and provide effective support to young people.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and duty of care responsibilities.
