Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a local authority in Worcester to assist with the appointment of a Grounds Maintenance on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £12.71- £16.49 per hour
Summary:
Worcester City Council is seeking a dedicated and reliable Grounds Maintenance operative to join our City Services team. This role is essential in maintaining the dignity, visual appeal, and functionality of our public green spaces, specifically focusing on crematorium grounds and surrounding areas. As you will be working in a sensitive public environment, a high level of respect, professionalism, and attention to detail is required.The successful candidate will ensure that all outdoor spaces are kept tidy, healthy, and attractive for visitors while operating council vehicles and equipment safely across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Execute professional mowing, hedge trimming, weeding, pruning, and planting to ensure gardens and lawns are maintained to a high standard.
- Safely transport tools, equipment, and crew members between designated sites including KGV, Astwood, St John's, and Perdiswell.
- Act as a representative of the Council, working respectfully in the public eye and maintaining a professional demeanor in sensitive environments.
- Responsible for the basic upkeep and safe storage of maintenance tools and the company vehicle provided.
Essentials:
- Prior experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or manual labour is essential.
- A towing endorsement (B+E) is required for transporting machinery and trailers between sites.
- Candidates must be able to pass an on-site induction and a formal driver assessment.
- Must hold a valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
