Interim Group Accountant
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Redbridge to assist with the appointment of an Interim Group Accountant, on a 12-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £32.93 - £42.64 per hour
Summary:
To provide a professional financial lead within Education and Inclusion, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, financial reporting standards, and best practice. The role will focus on managing and supporting the High Needs Block allocations, delivering accurate financial advice, and working collaboratively with senior stakeholders to enable informed decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the principal financial contact for the High Needs Block allocations, providing expert support and constructive challenge to senior colleagues.
- Provide high-quality monthly and quarterly financial monitoring reports, including robust forecasts of year-end financial positions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, financial reporting standards, and internal policies.
- Deliver clear, evidence-based financial advice to support strategic and operational decisions within Education & Inclusion.
- Identify and highlight financial risks and opportunities, recommending appropriate action.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in public sector finance, preferably within education or local government.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, budget management, and forecasting.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders to influence decision-making.
