About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Education Worker to join a local authority in Islington on a 6 month rolling contract highly likely to go permanent. You will play a crucial role in providing high-quality early years education and care to young children.

We are looking for a DFE qualified staff who meet the L3 requirements for nursery ratios. This role is based at Conewood Children's centre preschool room with 3-5 year olds. Candidates will be expected to be a key person.

Rate of pay: £15.64 per hour PAYE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Childcare and Education: Implement high-quality early years practices, focusing on the prime areas of learning and development.
  • Child Protection: Prioritize child welfare, complete necessary training, and recognize and respond to signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Play-Based Learning: Contribute to the creation of a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that promotes children's emotional, social, and cognitive development.
  • Partnership with Parents: Build strong relationships with parents, involve them in their child's education, and ensure smooth transitions.
  • Key Person Role: Develop strong bonds with a small group of children, meeting their individual needs and supporting their learning and development.
  • Positive Behavior Strategies: Implement positive behavior management techniques to create a harmonious and supportive learning environment.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in early years education.
  • Inclusive Practice: Promote inclusivity and equal opportunities for all children, including those with additional needs.

Essential Criteria:

  • Level 3 qualification in childcare/early years practice (e.g., NNEB, NVQ Level 3, BTEC Nationals)
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
  • Experience in creating stimulating learning environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Passion for working with young children

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience as a key person
  • Knowledge of child protection procedures
  • First aid qualification
