Planning Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Tower Hamlets to assist with the appointment of a Planning Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £22.19 - £28.50 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Provide generalist support on all allocated planning work, including carrying an appropriate case load, ensuring that all work is
    undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements, the Councils policies and procedures and to the best professional standards for the benefit of the residents of the Borough.
  • Where directed be responsible, with support, for leading on some
    appropriate elements, of planning work.
  • Provide support for negotiations on all planning work as appropriate, liaising with relevant Council directorates, local communities and other organisations.
  • To provide support to all planning service public consultation exercises including the preparation of all materials and other documentation ensuring that all relevant Council Directorates, community organisations, amenity and minority groups, external agencies and Government Bodies are consulted in accordance with the requirements of the Statement of Community Involvement
  • Undertake a monitoring role in respect of planning service issues

Qualifications:

  • First degree or equivalent that would allow entry onto RTPI accredited post-graduate planning degree course.
  • Some experience of working in one of the following areas of planning: Development Management, Plan Making or Place Shaping (design and
    conservation).
  • Experience of interpreting and assessing plans and technical planning documents.
