Domestic Abuse Worker

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Sussex to assist with the appointment of a Domestic Abuse Worker, on a 4-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £17.26 - £21.63 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence to ensure they receive an appropriate service, including completing initial assessments, DASH and immediate safety plans remembering that each client will have individual needs.
  • Work directly with victims and take responsibility for providing advocacy, information, emotional support and practical support with a responsibility for maintaining a focus on keeping the victims and their children safe.
  • Support the empowerment of victims and assist them in recognizing the dynamics of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
  • Work within a multi-agency setting and keep the clients safety central to all co- ordinated responses. This will include participation in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC). Support colleagues and partner agencies to provide the best possible service to victims.
  • Carry out regular case reviews to ensure agencies are meeting the needs of the clients and carry out risk review and management to seek to ensure that clients receive regular feedback and progress regarding their cases from agencies and organisations.
  • Maintain a case management database with up to date and accurate information to constantly monitor risk assessment of individual cases and agency response. Contribute towards identifying trends and issues through analysis of case data.

Qualification:

  • Relevant qualification at degree level in a relevant subject, or demonstrable experience in a paid or unpaid capacity of providing support to people in stressful and difficult situations.
  • IDVA qualification or willingness to work towards this.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a multi-agency environment with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence.
