Legal Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Hull to assist with the appointment of a Legal Officer, on a 2-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £17.59 - £21.92 per Hour

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise work carried out by Assistant Legal Officers, provide guidance and assistance on various administrative and computerised systems to these staff and other colleagues. Ensure all documentation is accurate.
  • To support and assist senior colleagues in complex and highly confidential cases by providing organised methodical and current research.
  • Independently evaluate, draft and prepare all documents. Draft instructions to Counsel when external Barristers are brought in to represent the Council and instruct solicitors to act as agents on behalf of the Council and negotiate their fees.
  • Use various Council systems to research cases for example Lexis Nexis, Practical Law. Examine legal documents to ensure accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Law degree CILEX or equivalent or other legal qualification
  • Experience of dealing with complex caseloads.
  • Experience of drafting, preparing, reviewing, and completing various property documents.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires a basic DBS
