Environmental Health Officer Food/Health & Safety
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Westminster to assist with the appointment of a Environmental Health Officer Food/Health & Safety, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £30.00 - £38.15 per hour
Responsibilities:
- To work within and nurture an integrated Public Protection ad Licensing directorate, responsible for ensuring a culturally competent, inclusive, workforce that identifies with our community and consistently models positive values and behaviours.
- To harness your environmental health knowledge to make Westminster a healthier and more equitable place to live, work and visit.
- To develop, implement and enforce environmental health policies and legislation, using specialist technical skills and knowledge to maintain and safeguard standards relating to people's health and well-being.
- To carry out routine or unannounced visits and inspections to ensure compliance with legislation and taking action to improve conditions, through engagement, education and enforcement.
- To deliver a responsive, fair and informed response to complaints and concerns from our communities, resolving issues and risks highlighted to us in a timely and efficient way.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or relevant other qualifications or experience that would allow the post holder to undertake the role.
- For roles in our food service you must meet the Food Standards Agency competency framework contained within the Food Law Code of Practice Guidance and be registered with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB)/ CIEH Register.
- Experience of working in a relevant environmental health discipline would be desirable.
- Experience of responding to complaints from the public, stakeholders and public elected members, both in writing and in person with respect to environmental health disciplines.
- Experience of delivering a customer facing role, with ability to build trusted relationships quickly and deescalate conflict, providing education and advice and using regulatory powers to effect change
- Experience of working with a range of agencies and professionals, building effective relationships to deliver excellent customer service and improve public health.
- Experience of case management, including gathering information and evidence to support legal action, and understanding of rules of evidence and court proceedings.
