Planning Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Hackney to assist with the appointment of a Planning Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £21.96 - £28.15 per Hour
Responsibilities:
- The Planning Officer will be responsible for the processing of Development Management matters within an area based or function based team including responsibility for the handling of pre-application advice, planning applications, conditions, and appeals.
- The Planning Officer will ensure, in conjunction with colleagues, that statutory and legal obligations are delivered and communicated in a customer-focussed manner, optimising available resources.
- The Planning Officer will be accountable to the Team Leader Development Management & Enforcement or the Major Applications Team Leader for achieving agreed Service outcomes and personal appraisal targets which uphold the Councils Core Values and meet the challenges of best practice.
- To provide advice and support to junior colleagues within the service as required.
- To represent the Council as an expert spokesperson on issues related to their functional area of responsibility.
Qualifications:
- A relevant qualification in Town Planning or equivalent which supports membership of the RTPI or a graduate qualification in a related discipline.
- In depth post qualification experience in Planning of which a significant element relates to the Development Control process.
- Experience of providing services to customers and being accountable for these services.
- Experience of a wide range of development control work, and the ability to deal with complex applications and/or projects.
