Senior Finance Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Enfield to assist with the appointment of a Senior Finance Officer, on a Permanent basis. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £41,442.00 - £44,331.00 per Annum

Summary:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Senior Finance Officer to join the Corporate Finance team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality finance support, lead on process improvements, and support strategic decision-making across various departments. This role will be well-suited for an experienced finance professional with a strong understanding of local authority accounting and excellent stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver finance service activities including budget review, financial planning, and corporate accounting.
  • Support either Finance Business Partnering or Corporate Accountancy teams with specific ownership of service menu items.
  • Provide expert advice and support to budget holders, ensuring financial processes are efficient and accurate.
  • Complete statutory returns, reconciliations, year-end processes, and respond to audit queries.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, ensuring consistent and standardised processes.
  • Drive process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Handle escalated financial queries and guide resolution.

Qualification:

  • CCAB or CIMA part or fully qualified accountant (desirable)

Essentials:

  • Relevant accountancy experience in a finance role within local government or not-for-profit sectors (essential).
  • Knowledge of local authority financial practices, including reporting, year-end close, and audit processes.
  • Strong communication, numerical, and IT skills, including advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience of supporting change or efficiency initiatives.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage deadlines and maintain attention to detail.
