Environmental Health Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Westminster to assist with the appointment of a Environmental Health Officer, on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £26.14 - £33.01 per Hour

Responsibilities:

  • To improve the lives of those who work, live and visit Westminster through the use of your specialist environmental health knowledge, skills and powers.
  • To respond to concerns by our communities, quickly and effectively, prioritising those that will have the highest risk and impact, providing excellent customer service, that understands peoples needs and concerns and resolves complex and reoccurring complaints.
  • To proactively identify areas of risk to the public, educating others on the impact of their actions and where necessary using your enforcement powers to stop behaviour.
  • To deliver a positive and proactive approach to ensuring compliance, helping businesses and individuals understand and meet regulatory requirements.
  • To provide expert advice and guidance to businesses, residents and visitors ensuring the highest levels of public health and reducing inequalities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in a relevant environmental health discipline would be desirable.
  • Experience of responding to complaints from the public, stakeholders and public elected members, both in writing and in person with respect to environmental health disciplines.
  • Experience of delivering a customer facing role, with ability to build trusted relationships quickly and deescalate conflict, providing education and advice and using regulatory powers to effect change.
