Assistant Lawyer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in London to assist with the appointment of an Assistant Lawyer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £22.83 - £29.42 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Undertaking research into legal questions arising from the work of the Division, and, if appropriate briefing Counsel and/or Consultants and Expert Witnesses and instructing as and when necessary.
- Responsible for negotiating and concluding contractual arrangements and agreements with leaseholders, freeholders, solicitors, barristers and external agencies with regard to the payment of service charges.
- To act at all times within the framework of legislation appropriate to leasehold management and debt collection, and the Councils policies and procedures relating to service charge collection.
- Assisting the Enforcement Manager and the Senior Enforcement Officer in preparing and conducting the cases involving debt recovery on behalf of Tenant Management Organisations.
- Providing advice to Tenant Management Organisations to ensure efficient debt recovery.
Experience :
- Substantial experience of working in a mixed tenure environment on a large residential portfolio and implementing legislation relevant to leasehold management.
- Experience of and ability to represent the Council at First-Tie-Tribunal and County Court.
- Experience of and ability to prepare all relevant paperwork for First-Tier Tribunals and County Court.
- Experience of and ability to make decisions.
- Experience of and ability to research topics, obtain information, and co-ordinate and write procedures, reports etc.
- Experience of and ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated and committed to providing a service to customers.
- Experience of using a wide range of computer packages.
