SENDSTART Caseworker
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Wirral to assist with the appointment of a SENDSTART Caseworker, on a 1-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £26.00 - £33.82 per hour
Summary:
The SENDSTART Caseworker supports Wirral Council in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities under Part 3 of the Children & Families Act 2014. The role involves coordinating and developing high-quality, timely Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The caseworker works closely with families, schools, health, and social care professionals to ensure the voices of young people and their families are reflected in the planning and provision of support.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main point of contact for parents/carers and young people during the EHCP process.
- Collaborate with families, educational institutions, and external service providers.
- Coordinate Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
- Adhere to statutory timelines and policies including GDPR, Health & Safety, and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Ensure accurate and timely casework documentation and communication.
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level.
- Experience working with children and young people with SEND.
- In-depth understanding of:Children & Families Act 2014 (Part 3), SEND Code of Practice (2015)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational and IT skills.
- Understanding of SEND issues across educational and familial contexts.
- Leading multi-agency meetings and writing person-centred plans.
- Preparing professional reports and using diverse communication methods.
