EHC Coordinator
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Nottinghamshire to assist with the appointment of an EHC Coordinator, on a 2.5-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £16.29 - £22.27 per Hour
Summary:
The ICDS EHC Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating statutory Education, Health, and Care (EHC) assessments and Short Break assessments for children and young people aged 0-25 years with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This includes drafting Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), facilitating annual reviews, and ensuring appropriate support, resources, and placements are in place to enable positive outcomes. The post-holder will work in partnership with families, education, health, and social care professionals to deliver a person-centered, outcome-focused service while adhering to statutory timelines and legislation.
Responsibilities:
- Case Management & EHC Coordination: Manage a defined caseload of complex SEND cases, including children and young people with profound and multiple disabilities. Coordinate and facilitate EHC assessments and Short Break assessments in line with statutory timescales.
- Partnership Working & Collaboration: Work collaboratively with parents, young people, and multi-agency professionals from education, health, and social care sectors. Engage in multi-agency meetings (e.g., Annual Reviews, Placement at Risk Meetings) and ensure the childs or young persons voice is at the center of decision-making.
- Statutory Compliance & Policy Adherence: Ensure all work complies with statutory legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice 2015, and Equality Act 2010. Ensure assessments, provisions, and EHCPs adhere to legal frameworks, safeguarding processes, and the Councils policies.
- Service Delivery & Quality Assurance: Monitor and review EHC plans to ensure appropriate support is in place and progress toward outcomes is being achieved. Provide quality assurance by ensuring that documentation is accurate, evidence-based, and meets legal requirements.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with educational settings, training providers, and health and care services to ensure that children and young people receive appropriate provision. Provide clear communication to families and professional partners, managing their expectations and resolving conflicts through negotiation and mediation when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Level 5 qualification or above in a childrens services or adult-related field.
- Willingness to attain (or possession of) the SEND Casework Award or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years' experience working with SEND in education, health, or social care.
- Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and prioritise under pressure.
- Experience in multi-agency collaboration and chairing professional meetings.
- Skilled in writing robust EHCPs capable of withstanding tribunal challenges.
