Project Manager

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Project Manager, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £25.06 - £32.29 per hour

Summary:

Responsible for managing and delivering complex projects and strategies simultaneously across the Waste & Cleaning Service to increase the household waste recycling rate and reduce waste, to reduce levels of graffiti and fly-tipping, to undertake a service re-structure, and to ensure the councils Southwark Stands Together pledges are realised in respect of inhouse front-line staff.
The post holder will ensure that projects are delivered within the relevant scope, constraints and budget, supporting the head of the service with project reporting and the production of all project-related artefacts.
They will manage all aspects of project delivery from the initial stage, through to handing over to the business teams, through the effective management of assigned resources, approved suppliers and allocated budgets and set standards in how programmes and projects are managed across the service

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning, managing, co-ordinating and reporting on activities to implement several projects from proposal to initiation to delivery including the transition into business-as-usual.
  • Collaborate with directors and head of services to ensure projects are delivered to scope, within budget and to agreed timeframes, prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity.
  •  Understand and interpret the business objectives, goals and targets into tangible deliverables that are sustainable after the project ends.
  • Determine the most suitable approach to meet business goals, including adoption of any formal project methodology.
  •  Work in conjunction with the Head of Waste and Cleaning and other managers in the division to create robust Business Cases and Benefits Plans.

Qualifications:

  • Agile methodology, scrum master or PRINCE2 certified or
    equivalent by experience. 
  • A good understanding of project delivery in a modern local government organisation(s) - including change management.
  • A good understanding of organisational redesign and the issues facing directorates in local government, going through change.
  • Knowledge of a variety of project management tools, methodologies and best practice. e.g Agile or Prince 2
  • A good understanding of working on change management projects and how to maintain appropriate documentation including process maps and change requests.

Experience:

  • Experience of working through the full project life cycle from inception to completion, including transition to a new Operating Model for affected staff. 
  • Experience of producing project management protocols, initiating documents, reports and managing risk and finances for a variety of audiences. 
  • An experienced people leader, able to inspire, unite and motivate a diverse team. 
  • Experience in building strong and sustaining relationships
    with stakeholders. 
  • Experience of working in a front line, operational service
    environment.
