YOS Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lewisham to assist with the appointment of a YOS Officer, on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £21.92 - £28.15 per Hour

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for supervising young people on out of court disposals various community orders custodial sentences - who have offended and be involved as required with parents / carers. 
  • To undertake high quality assessment, planning, interventions, and reviews with young people, employing supervision using effective practice with regards to risk management safety and wellbeing concerns and safeguarding policies.
  • To be accountable for your practice by being able to manage your workload, apply professional curiosity, critical thinking, analysis and evidence based research to form a professional opinion, reporting to your line manager and by maintaining accurate and defensible records of all work undertaken on behalf of the Council, including the input of data, using electronic Case Management recording systems.
  • To ensure that service users (victims, young people who have offended and parents/carers) are aware of their right to see information held about them under data protection legislation and of their rights to make compliments and complaints regarding the service they receive.
  • To undertake and facilitate evidence based individual programmes and group work programmes that aim to reduce reoffending, utilising current best practice including a knowledge and understanding of the trauma recovery model and restorative approaches.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant professional qualification - e.g. social work degree or equivalent extensive youth justice
  • Experience of completing comprehensive assessments developing plans / actions - and delivering interventions for children and young people.
  • Experience of work with young people who have offended or are at risk of offending
