We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Powys to assist with the appointment of a Waste and Recycling Level 1 - Driver, on a 1-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £13.46 - £17.00 per Hour

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that any vehicles which are entrusted into your care are driven safely, efficiently and lawfully. This includes due diligence in ensuring that the vehicle is not over loaded.
• Ensure that any simple routine maintenance recommended by the manufacturer or included in the relevant operating procedure e.g. lubrication of lifting and compacting gear is carried out in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.
• Ensure that the vehicle is in a roadworthy condition and carry out daily inspections in accordance with PCC procedures, reporting promptly any defects to the Recycling & Waste Supervisor and the Vehicle Maintenance Workshop.
• To ensure that the vehicle is in a clean & tidy condition externally and internally by carrying out regular cleaning and washing. To work in accordance with the current Safe System of Work.
• Drive the vehicles but also assist with the physical collection of designated waste and recycling which includes checking that the contents of the containers are not contaminated with the wrong items.

Qualifications:

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification or relevant experience in waste & recycling collection systems.
• Considerable experience and a working knowledge of waste and recycling collection activities and processes.
• Experience of multi point driving activities and waste & recycling collection driving duties.
