Qualified Anatomical Pathology Technician
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in London to assist with the appointment of Qualified Anatomical Pathology Technician, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £15.82 - £19.96 per hour
Responsibilities:
- To bring to the attention of work colleagues any bodies which need to be attended to by other RBG colleagues or external organisations for disposal.
- To fully participate in staff training to ensure you are adequately trained and fully understand relevant statutory legalisation, industry related codes of practice, guiding principles and PRaD scheme as required. Work towards the Anatomical Pathology Technicians certificate and assist all colleagues to develop and implement service delivery initiatives to improve the mortuary service.
- Assist in the preparation and restoration of bodies and to attend call-outs as required, and in particular, to assist special and defence post-mortem examinations. Prepare and lay out the body for identification purposes in accordance with current procedures. Arrange appointments for the families / friends to view / identify the deceased.
- To participate and maintain the cleaning and sterilisation of the post mortem rooms, instruments, apparatus and equipment to ensure it is kept in a safe and hygienic condition, including the disposal and safe packaging of all clinical waste and contaminated sharps in accordance to current Waste and Environment Regulations and procedures.
- To carry out and keep a record of periodic checks of mechanical equipment and make recommendations in relation to the maintenance and safety of all the equipment, paying particular attention to the refrigerated storage temperatures and keeping records as directed.
