Principal Area Surveyor

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a Principal Area Surveyor, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £299.81 - £375.00 per Day

Responsibilities:

  • To manage and supervise the Building Control Technical Team, ensuring that works complies with the Building Regulations and Building Acts with other associated legislation and all Standing Orders, Authorities policies, departmental instructions and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service delivery, marketing and quality initiatives, and promote the Authoritys Building Control service during normal contact with building professionals.
  • Assist the Head of Building Control to develop and implement the framework of the business unit to ensure continuous improvement, enhancing competitiveness, quality of output and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide high level advice to, and as required negotiate with the public, officers of the authority, builders, architects, engineers, external consultants and other bodies on all aspects of building control.
  • Assist in the development of appropriate fees and charges structures, processes to ensure a sustainable and competitive service, ensuring that large scale developments are fully costed.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or HNC in building, building surveying, civil or structural engineering and significant relevant post qualification experience, or able to demonstrate a comparable level of knowledge and skills obtained through relevant experience.
  • Significant experience as a senior manager in a building control environment including a history of business expertise suited to the competitive nature of a building control service.
