Rate of Pay: £398.42- £524.56 per day

Summary:

Bromley Council is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of SEN (Interim) to lead the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Service and provide system-wide leadership across the local SEND partnership. Reporting to the Director of Education, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the borough's SEND strategic vision while ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and legally compliant services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the SEN Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, inclusive, and effective SEND provision.
  • Lead integrated commissioning and collaborative working arrangements to maximise resources and improve service delivery.
  • Oversee statutory SEND functions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and quality standards.
  • Lead continuous service improvement through effective performance management, quality assurance, data analysis, and business intelligence.
  • Lead and oversee SEND improvement programmes, policy development, and strategic transformation initiatives.
  • Represent the Council in regional and national SEND partnerships, inspections, tribunals, and strategic forums.

Qualifications:

  • Degree-level qualification in Education, Health, Social Care, or a related professional discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Essentials:

  • Significant senior leadership experience managing complex SEND or children's education services.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of SEND legislation, statutory guidance, and national policy.
  • Experience developing and implementing SEND strategies and service improvement programmes.
  • Expert knowledge of SEND legislation, statutory assessment processes, and inclusive education.
