We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Coventry to assist with the appointment of a Cook, on a 2-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Cook to prepare and serve nutritious, home-cooked meals for vulnerable adults with learning disabilities within a residential care setting. The role involves maintaining high standards of food hygiene, catering for special dietary requirements, and supporting the health and wellbeing of residents through quality meal provision.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, cook, and serve fresh lunch and evening meals for residents, respite service users, and staff.
• Cater for approximately 10 residential residents, 5 respite service users, and 6 staff members, including special and modified diets where required.
• Plan menus, order supplies, check deliveries, and manage food stock effectively.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, kitchen cleanliness, and health & safety compliance.
• Work independently to manage the kitchen while promoting healthy eating and providing excellent service.

Qualifications:

• Food Safety Level 1 or Level 2 (Level 2 preferred).
• Food Hygiene Level 1 or Level 2 (Level 2 preferred).
• NVQ Level 2 in Catering/Hospitality (or willingness to work towards it).

Essentials:

• Previous experience working as a Cook, preferably within a residential care home or similar care environment.
• Experience preparing meals for 15-25 people.
• Ability to prepare a variety of meals, including special dietary requirements (e.g. pureed, soft & bite-sized, minced & moist).
• Knowledge of food hygiene, food safety, and safe kitchen practices.
• Ability to plan menus, order supplies, and manage food stock within budget.
