We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Slough to assist with the appointment of a Housing Reviews Officer on a 6.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £26.27 - £34.69 per hour

Summary:

The Housing Reviews Officer will be responsible for making fair, lawful, evidence-based and clearly reasoned review decisions in accordance with the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, statutory guidance, relevant case law and Council policy. This is a specialist role requiring substantial experience in statutory housing reviews, complex homelessness decision-making and legally robust review work.

Responsibilities:

• Review housing register, allocations and reasonable preference decisions in accordance with statutory procedures and Council policy.
• Analyse complex case files, original decision letters, case notes, legal submissions, medical evidence, safeguarding information and professional reports.
• Conduct detailed review investigations, request further enquiries and evaluate evidence.
• Produce clear, legally sound and evidence-based review decision letters, including minded-to letters where required.
• Ensure decisions are independent, legally compliant, issued within statutory timescales and capable of withstanding external challenge.
• Apply homelessness and housing legislation, statutory guidance, case law, public law principles, equality duties and safeguarding considerations

Essentials:

• Substantial professional experience in complex homelessness and/or housing allocations casework.
• Direct experience undertaking statutory housing reviews and legal or quasi-legal housing decision-making.
• Strong working knowledge of Parts VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Detailed knowledge of Section 202 reviews, Section 204 appeals, accommodation suitability requirements and the Homelessness Code of Guidance.
• Proven ability to produce detailed, evidence-based and legally robust decision letters.
