Environmental Health Officer (Food/Health & Safety)

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Westminster to assist with the appointment of an Environmental Health Officer (Food/Health & Safety), on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £30.00 - £39.57 per hour
Summary:
Westminster City Council is seeking a qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to support the delivery of food hygiene and health & safety regulatory services across one of the UK's busiest local authorities. The role involves carrying out food hygiene inspections, investigating complaints and accidents, including RIDDOR cases, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation through appropriate enforcement action.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out food hygiene inspections for Category A–D premises and new food businesses
- Investigate food safety and health & safety complaints
- Conduct accident and RIDDOR investigations
- Assess compliance with food hygiene and health & safety legislation
- Serve enforcement notices where required, including Improvement Notices and Prohibition Notices
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent relevant qualification/experience)
- Registered with EHORB / CIEH, or eligible and compliant
- Must meet the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Food Law Code of Practice competency framework
Essential Requirements:
- Experience or understanding of: Food hygiene inspections, Health & Safety enforcement and RIDDOR investigations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to assess risk and make sound enforcement decisions
- Excellent written reporting skills
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and handheld technology
