Food Safety Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of a Food Safety Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £30.78 - £40.64 per hour
Summary:
To undertake a range of activities for the full range of Food Safety functions including the effective investigation and resolution of complex cases. Carry out routine or unplanned visits and inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
Responsibilities:
- To develop, implement and enforce policies in connection with the food safety core function.
- Determine the most appropriate intervention to be taken to resolve a request for assistance, whether this be informal or initiating legal proceedings involving the preparation and giving evidence in court.
- To keep abreast of all relevant new and draft legislation, advice and other developments relevant to delivering the Councils Food Safety service.
- Responsibility for the timely investigation of complaints, including programmed inspections and use of appropriate interventions in line with the Camden Plan priorities and enforcement policies.
- To be self-directing and to take responsibility for their own learning and development and be confident to identify opportunities for innovation to improve the service in terms of creating and improving policies and procedures, particularly through the evaluation and review of case work performance and customer feedback.
Qualifications:
- BSc/MSc or Diploma in Environmental Health
Requirements:
- Hold competency requirements of Food Law Code of Practice for Authorised Officers with recent experience carrying out inspections and up to date training and accreditation for role requirements.
- Background in food safety is mandatory.
- Previous experience in a similar enforcement or environmental health role.
- Good working knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice.
- Strong observational, investigative, and caseload management skills.
- Up-to-date food safety competencies
