Senior Payroll Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely with Nottingham to assist with the appointment of a Senior Payroll Officer, on a 12-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.06 - £23.79 per hour

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to administer and maintain payroll and pension systems, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with statutory regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain payroll and pension systems, including colleague expenses, statutory payments, and absence records in line with current legislation.
  • Process payroll accurately and within agreed timescales, ensuring compliance with PAYE, statutory payments, pension, and payroll regulations.
  • Operate and reconcile payroll control accounts, including net pay and pension accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and perform regular reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Extract, analyse, and manipulate payroll and financial data to produce reports, returns, and management information.
  • Assist with monthly, period-end, and year-end payroll processing, producing all required statutory and financial documentation.

Qualification:

  • Diploma in Payroll (NVQ Level 4) or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent payroll experience.

Essentials:

  • Substantial experience working with computerised payroll systems.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of PAYE, statutory payments, payroll legislation, and pension administration.
  • Experience managing payroll reconciliations, control accounts, and payroll reporting.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to retrieve, analyse, and manipulate complex data.
  • Experience handling complex payroll queries with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
