Executive Business Manager

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of a Executive Business Manager, on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £24.38 - £32.16 per hour

Summary:

As an Executive Business Manager at Camden Council, you will provide strategic and high-level business management support to the Directorate Executive Director and senior leadership team. You will ensure the effective delivery of strategic objectives, manage the Chief Officer Support function, and coordinate essential operations across the Directorate. This role requires political awareness, leadership, and exceptional organisational skills to deliver joined-up, professional, and responsive executive support.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Directorate runs efficiently by managing information flows, supporting Cabinet Members, and overseeing a team of Personal Assistants who provide direct support to senior officers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated and strategic support to the Executive Director, including horizon scanning, preparing commissioning briefs, and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Act as a key liaison between the Directorate and internal/external partners to ensure coordinated delivery of strategic priorities.
  • Lead and develop the Chief Officer Support team, ensuring professional and effective delivery of business management functions.
  • Oversee the coordination of directorate information, implementing and maintaining shared information protocols.
  • Work closely with officers across the Council to support Cabinet Members through briefings, enquiries, and meetings.
  • Demonstrate strong political sensitivity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience providing high-level executive or business management support within a large, complex organisation.
  • Experience working with and advising senior management, preferably within a local government or public sector environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a small team effectively.
  • Experience making independent decisions and exercising sound judgment in fast-paced, politically sensitive contexts.
