Repairs Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Northamptonshire to assist with the appointment of a Repairs Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £27.73 - £38.50 per hour

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Repairs Officer to support the day-to-day operational management of the Council's Repairs and Maintenance Team. The successful candidate will supervise trades staff and contractors, ensure repairs are delivered efficiently and safely, maintain compliance with health and safety legislation, and provide technical support to deliver a high-quality repairs service.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise repairs, maintenance, planned works, compliance activities, and business support functions to deliver an efficient customer-focused service.
  • Undertake property surveys, prepare specifications, tender documentation, reports, and manage pre- and post-inspections.
  • Provide technical support and supervision to trades staff and contractors, monitoring performance, quality, costs, and timescales.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, building regulations, environmental legislation, and Council policies while maintaining accurate records and audit trails.
  • Support staff management, including recruitment, appraisals, training, performance management, and deputising for the Team Leader when required.

Essentials:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and repairs/maintenance management systems.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel and attend evening meetings when required.
  • Willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development.
  • Experience supervising repairs and maintenance operations.
  • Experience managing trades staff and contractors.
  • Ability to undertake property surveys and prepare tender documentation, specifications and technical reports.
  • Experience carrying out pre- and post-inspections.
  • Knowledge of health & safety, building and environmental legislation.
