Building Control Surveyor

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Wirral to assist with the appointment of a Building Control Surveyor, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £44.00 - £57.24 per hour

Summary:

The Building Control Surveyor will assist in delivering a customer-focused Building Control Service, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation to protect public health, safety, and welfare. The role involves assessing building regulation applications, conducting site inspections, providing technical advice, supporting enforcement activities, and contributing to the effective delivery of statutory Building Control functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess Building Regulation applications to ensure compliance with current legislation and statutory timescales.
  • Conduct site inspections for building works, ensuring construction complies with Building Regulations, approved plans, and relevant legislation.
  • Investigate dangerous structures, unauthorised works, demolition works, and highway obstructions to safeguard public safety.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota, providing a 24-hour response to dangerous structure incidents.
  • Review and assess structural calculations and technical documentation submitted with building applications.
  • Liaise with builders, developers, property owners, agents, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance throughout construction projects.

Qualification:

  • Relevant qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, or a related discipline.

Essentials:

  • Sound knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents, Building Act legislation, and associated technical guidance.
  • Experience assessing Building Regulation applications and conducting site inspections.
  • Ability to interpret structural calculations and technical submissions.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
