Electrician

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Greenwich to assist with the appointment of an Electrician, on a 1-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £25.44 - £31.94 per hour

Summary:

The Electrician will carry out a wide range of skilled electrical works within domestic properties and other council-managed premises. The role involves installation, repair, inspection, and certification of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with current regulations and safety standards. The postholder will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all work undertaken, supporting apprentices, and responding to emergency callouts when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality electrical installation, maintenance, and repair services across all contracts managed by Building Services.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and set out works accordingly.
  • Certify completed electrical works, ensuring compliance with NICEIC or equivalent certification standards.
  • Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment, ensuring calibration is up to date and taking necessary emergency actions when faults are identified.
  • Supervise and train apprentices, trainees, and work experience placements.

Qualifications &Certifications:

  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing Certification (or equivalent).

  • Recognised Electrical Installation qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

  • NICEIC certification or ability to complete relevant NICEIC documentation.

  • Valid certification for vehicle operation (where applicable).

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an electrician within domestic property settings.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong knowledge of current electrical regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (including leading up to 5 tradespeople).
  • Skilled in diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing installations.
  • Experience supervising apprentices and supporting trainee development.
