Business Support Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Bath and North East Somerset to assist with the appointment of a Business Support Officer, on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £14.59 - £18.90 per hour
Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Business Support Officer to join the Waste Strategy Team at Bath & North East Somerset Council. This temporary role will provide essential support in delivering new waste and recycling initiatives being introduced in central Bath. The role combines administrative responsibilities with on-the-ground monitoring, requiring a balance of computer literacy, accuracy, and practical engagement with the community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide business and administrative support to the Waste Strategy Team to enable efficient project delivery.
- Undertake computer-based administration, including data entry, monitoring, and reporting on project activities.
- Carry out on-the-ground survey work across central Bath, recording participation levels in new waste and recycling initiatives and identifying issues.
- Assist with the collection, management, and analysis of data to support decision-making and reporting.
- Act as a point of contact for enquiries, escalating issues where necessary and ensuring professional communication with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- A-level qualification (or equivalent) or relevant practical experience.
Experience:
- Previous experience in providing administrative or business support in a local authority, environmental service, or related sector.
- Experience in handling data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve queries.
- Experience of working outdoors or in community-facing roles would be advantageous.
Requirements:
- Strong computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and confidence in using electronic data collection tools.
- Good knowledge of administrative systems, processes, and data management.
- Awareness or interest in environmental issues, sustainability, waste, and recycling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in both administrative and field-based work.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage tasks independently, while contributing to a team environment.
