Social Work Assistant

 Job Description:

We are working closely with a local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Social Work Assistant, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.12- £21.10 per hour

Summary:

The Social Work Assistant plays an important supporting role within Cardiff Council's Children's Services, working alongside qualified Social Workers and multidisciplinary professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people, and families. Working within Locality or other Children's Services teams, the Social Work Assistant will assist in assessments, care planning, family support, supervised contact, and the implementation of intervention plans. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support qualified Social Workers in delivering services to children, young people, and families.
  • Undertake direct work with children to support care, safeguarding, and wellbeing plans.
  • Assist with child and family assessments, care planning, reviews, and intervention programmes.
  • Prepare reports, update case management systems, and contribute to statutory documentation.
  • Support children in accessing education, health, and community services.
  • Participate in supervision, training, reflective practice, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care, Childcare, Youth Work, Social Care, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.

Essentials:

  • Experience working with children, young people, or families within social care, education, youth services, health, or community settings.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable children or families.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and children's welfare.
  • Understanding of child development and family dynamics.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
