Homelessness Reduction Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely with a local authority in Isle of Wight to assist with the appointment of a Homelessness Reduction Officer, on a 2-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £117.33- £154.60 per day
Summary:
The Homelessness Reduction Officer is responsible for providing high-quality housing advice, homelessness prevention and casework services to households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. The role involves managing a caseload of households, developing tailored Personal Housing Plans, working collaboratively with landlords, accommodation providers, support agencies and other partners, and identifying suitable housing solutions where homelessness cannot be prevented.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and respond to enquiries from members of the public, Council colleagues, partner agencies and other public bodies regarding housing advice and homelessness assistance.
- Undertake detailed housing and homelessness assessments to establish individual circumstances, needs and available housing options.
- Identify opportunities to prevent homelessness and take appropriate action to support households to remain in their existing accommodation where possible.
- Assess affordability and suitability of accommodation options based on the household's income, expenditure and financial circumstances.
Qualifications:
- A relevant qualification in Housing, Homelessness, Public Administration, Social Care or a related discipline is desirable.
- A professional housing qualification, such as a CIH qualification, would be advantageous.
- A good working knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
Essentials:
- Experience of providing housing advice, homelessness prevention or housing options services.
- Experience of interviewing and assessing individuals or households with complex housing needs.
- Experience of developing and delivering practical solutions to prevent or relieve homelessness.

- You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
- You should have right to work in U.K
- This role requires a Basic DBS
