Allocations Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Slough to assist with the appointment of an Allocations Officer, on a 9-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £18.82 - £24.65 per hour
Summary:
The Allocation Officer will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive, customer-focused housing allocations service, including managing housing register applications, assessing housing needs and determining eligibility for social housing.
Responsibilities:
- Manage applications for social housing, including complex cases, and assess eligibility and housing needs in accordance with relevant legislation and the Council's Housing Allocations Policy.
- Make accurate, lawful and defensible decisions regarding housing applications and allocations.
- Provide a comprehensive and customer-focused housing allocations service to applicants and home seekers.
- Liaise with internal departments, external agencies and partner organisations regarding customers' housing needs.
- Work proactively to identify appropriate housing options and solutions for customers, ensuring Council resources are used effectively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to the Housing Register, voids and lettings process using the relevant housing management IT systems.
Qualification:
- Educated to A Level or equivalent, with a good standard of numeracy and literacy.
- NVQ Business Administration Level 3, BTEC or equivalent, or a relevant housing qualification.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
Essentials:
- Current and full UK driving licence with access to a car for work purposes.
- Experience working in a pressurised customer service environment, particularly with vulnerable customers.
- Experience of working effectively with a range of professional staff and external agencies.
- Experience maintaining computerised information management systems and accurate customer records.
- Experience working with confidential information and understanding when and how sensitive information should be shared.
