Referral Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Referral Officer on a 2.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £21.64- £28.78 per hour
Hours per week: 17.50
Summary:
The CSCT Referral Officer is a full-time, permanent position within the Childrens Service Contact Team (CSCT). The CSCT is Islingtons single point of contact for all new referrals for both Childrens Social Care and various Targeted Services. It is integral to Islingtons Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), with some MASH partners co-located with the team. The Officer acts as the first point of contact for members of the public and professionals from partner agencies in the contact and referral process. The primary function is to support CSCT Managers, Social Workers, and MASH partner agency professionals by gathering relevant information from referrers, ensuring this information is inputted accurately and efficiently on the electronic system to allow prompt and effective decisions to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The goal of the team is to deliver high-quality responses to incoming contacts within required timescales, aiming for right service first time for children and families
Responsibilities:
- Taking responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons/vulnerable adults, including undertaking regular Child Protection training.
- Dealing sensitively with enquiries or telephone messages, logging calls accurately, and alerting staff or managers immediately to any issues requiring urgent attention.
- Carrying out the skilled processing of contacts and liaising with staff to ensure contact information and screening information are accurate and up-to-date
- Undertaking support tasks on projects as required and carrying out other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.
- Ensuring duties are undertaken in accordance with the Council's Dignity for All Policy (Equal Opportunities Policy), Data Protection Act, and Health and Safety Policy.
Qualification:
- Educated to at least GCSE or equivalent with a Pass in English language.
Essentials:
- Significant experience in an administrative role.
- Experience of providing diary management support and minuting meetings to a good standard.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to an advanced level.
- Displays an awareness, understanding, and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people.
- Knowledge and understanding of Childrens Social Care, including the London Child Protection Procedures and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
