 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Swindon to assist with the appointment of an Fly tipping rapid response, on a 12-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £12.65 - £16.38 per hour

Summary:

The Fly Tipping Rapid Response Officer will be responsible for responding promptly to incidents of fly-tipping across Swindon, ensuring public spaces are safe, clean, and compliant with environmental regulations. This role involves identifying, removing, and managing illegally dumped waste while supporting the councils commitment to environmental protection and community wellbeing. The postholder will work collaboratively with the Waste Services team and other stakeholders to maintain high standards of service delivery and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond rapidly to reported fly-tipping incidents across the borough, ensuring safe and effective removal of waste.
  • Investigate fly-tipping incidents, including recording evidence and reporting potential offenders to appropriate enforcement teams.
  • Ensure all operations comply with health & safety policies, environmental regulations, and council procedures.
  • Maintain and operate vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently while performing duties.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to public queries and concerns regarding fly-tipping issues.

Qualification:

  • Relevant qualification in Environmental Services, Waste Management, or Health & Safety (desirable).

Essential Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Training or certification in manual handling, health & safety, or waste management (desirable).
  • Previous experience in waste management, environmental services, or rapid response operations.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations, fly-tipping legislation, and enforcement procedures.
  • Experience working safely with vehicles, machinery, and waste-handling equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to act decisively in challenging situations.
