Planning Enforcement Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Worcester to assist with the appointment of a Planning Enforcement Officer, on a 5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.68 - £21.91 per hour

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to manage a varied caseload of planning enforcement investigations. You will investigate alleged planning breaches, review existing cases, conduct site inspections, and ensure compliance with planning legislation while delivering timely, high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 70–100 planning enforcement cases, including existing and new complaints.
  • Investigate alleged breaches of planning control and determine appropriate enforcement action.
  • Conduct site inspections and urgent site visits as required.
  • Review planning applications, legal documents, planning history, and relevant legislation.
  • Assess cases involving designated heritage assets and protected trees.

Essentials:

  • Experience in Planning Enforcement within a local authority or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of planning legislation, enforcement procedures, and planning law.
  • Experience investigating planning enforcement cases and managing a complex caseload.
  • Ability to interpret planning history, plans, legal documents, and regulations.
  • Experience preparing enforcement notices, reports, and legal documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
