Financial Inclusion Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Solihull to assist with the appointment of a Financial Inclusion Officer, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.40 - £21.84 per hour

Summary:

As a Financial Inclusion Officer, you will support households experiencing financial hardship by providing tailored advice, guidance, and practical assistance to improve financial resilience.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of individuals and households experiencing financial hardship and provide holistic financial inclusion support.
  • Identify clients requiring financial assistance and undertake comprehensive needs assessments and action plans.
  • Support customers to maximise household income through welfare benefits, grants, charitable funding, and reduced expenditure.
  • Provide budgeting, debt management, financial literacy, housing, and welfare advice.
  • Make recommendations for hardship grants, Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs), Crisis Awards, Community Care Grants, and other financial assistance.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners including Citizens Advice, housing providers, social care, employment services, and voluntary organisations.

Qualification:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent Level 2 qualifications, or relevant experience within a Revenues and Benefits environment.

Essentials:

  • Experience supporting customers experiencing financial hardship or vulnerability.
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, Universal Credit, financial inclusion, budgeting, and debt advice.
  • Experience managing a varied and complex caseload within a target-driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and empathetically.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
