Housing Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of a Housing Officer, on a 2.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £18.73 - £24.54 per hour
Summary:
The Housing Officer role involves managing complex housing cases, carrying out home visits, tenancy audits, welfare and safeguarding checks, neighbourhood inspections, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to improve resident outcomes and satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver an effective housing management service in accordance with housing legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage a designated patch of properties, providing proactive tenancy management and excellent customer service.
- Conduct home visits, tenancy audits, welfare checks, and safeguarding assessments, making referrals where appropriate.
- Support new tenants by carrying out tenancy sign-ups, settling-in visits, and ongoing tenancy sustainment.
- Manage complex tenancy cases, ensuring residents receive appropriate advice and support.
- Carry out pre-void inspections, property viewings, and work with lettings teams to minimise void turnaround times.
Qualification:
- Housing qualification (CIH or equivalent) desirable or willingness to work towards one.
Essentials:
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle (or ability to travel efficiently) is essential.
- Previous experience working within a housing management or social housing environment.

Experience managing tenancy-related issues, including nuisance, neighbour disputes, tenancy breaches, and safeguarding concerns.

Good knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy management, and enforcement procedures.
- Experience working with vulnerable residents and multi-agency partners.
