Childrens Social Worker
Job Description:
We are working closely with local authority in Herefordshire to assist with the appointment of a Childrens Social Worker, on a 3.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £23.08- £31.56 per hour
Summary:
The Children's Social Worker – Social Care Qualified plays a key role within Herefordshire Council's Children with Disabilities Team, delivering high-quality, child-centred social work services to children and young people with disabilities and their families. Working within a restorative and relationship-based practice model, the postholder undertakes statutory assessments, develops outcome-focused care and support plans, and coordinates services that promote the safety, wellbeing, independence, and inclusion of children with additional needs.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children and young people with disabilities, ensuring timely and effective delivery of statutory social work services.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of children, young people, and their families in accordance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and council procedures.
- Identify risks to children and take appropriate safeguarding action to ensure their safety and welfare.
- Undertake Child in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children, and Care Proceedings work where required.
- Represent the service at child protection conferences, review meetings, strategy discussions, and court proceedings where appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), CQSW, or an equivalent recognised Social Work qualification.
- Registration with Social Work England.
Essentials:
- Minimum of three years' post-qualifying experience in children's social work.
- Significant post-qualification experience working with children, young people, and families within children's social care.
- Sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, Care Act 2014 (where applicable), Working Together to Safeguard Children, SEND legislation, and other relevant statutory guidance.
- Strong understanding of child development, disability, safeguarding, and child protection practice.
