Employee Relations Specialist

 Job Description:

We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of an Employee Relations Specialist, on a 1.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £26.42- £34.89 per hour

Summary:

Southern Housing is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to provide expert employee relations (ER) advice and support across the organisation. Reporting to the Lead Employee Relations Manager, the postholder will manage a diverse portfolio of complex ER cases, ensuring managers receive professional, consistent, and legally compliant guidance that supports effective people management and positive employee outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a complex and high-volume caseload including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, absence management, flexible working, bullying and harassment, probation, redundancy, and organisational change cases.
  • Ensure all employee relations matters are managed fairly, consistently, and in accordance with employment legislation, organisational policies, and best practice.
  • Coach and develop line managers to improve confidence and capability in managing employee relations matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Health & Safety, Data Protection, and organisational governance requirements.
  • Identify trends, risks, and emerging workforce issues, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of employee relations services, systems, and processes

Qualifications:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification in Human Resources or equivalent professional experience.
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Employment Law, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Essentials:

  • Experience handling disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness absence, performance management, and organisational change cases.
  • Experience preparing documentation for Employment Tribunal proceedings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
  • Knowledge of Employment Tribunal procedures and legal documentation.
  • Knowledge of HR systems, case management processes, and workforce analytics.
