Active Travel Project Manager

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of an Active Travel Project Manager, on a 30-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.82 - £25.79 per hour

Hours Per Week: 22

Summary:

The Active Travel Project Manager is responsible for managing the development and delivery of active travel and transport infrastructure projects, overseeing schemes from initial planning through to construction, while coordinating stakeholders, managing budgets, ensuring compliance, and supporting the successful delivery of the Council's £9 million Active Travel Programme.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Active Travel and transport infrastructure projects from inception through to construction.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Develop project plans, governance arrangements, budgets, and delivery programmes.
  • Commission technical work such as highway design, surveys, traffic modelling, planning, and legal advice.
  • Lead stakeholder consultation and public engagement activities.

Essentials:

  • Experience managing transport, infrastructure, or capital projects from planning through to delivery.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and coordination skills.
  • Experience managing project budgets, programmes, risks, and governance.
  • Knowledge of procurement, planning approvals, and project delivery processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
