Hiab Driver/Electrician's Assistant

We are working closely with a local authority in North Yorkshire to assist with the appointment of a Hiab Driver/Electrician's Assistant, on a 2.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £15.89- £19.99 per hour

Summary:

The Hiab Driver / Electrician's Assistant will support the Street Lighting Electrician in the installation, maintenance and replacement of street lighting equipment and associated highway infrastructure across North Yorkshire. The role combines LGV Class 2 driving, HIAB operations, excavation, groundworks and electrical installation support. The majority of the role will involve physical excavation and reinstatement work rather than driving alone.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive LGV Class 2 vehicles and safely operate the HIAB / vehicle-mounted crane attachment.
  • Transport, load and unload plant, equipment, materials and street lighting components safely.
  • Carry out dynamic traffic management assessments and adapt site arrangements to changing risks and conditions.
  • Assess site plans against actual site conditions and use sound judgement to ensure safe digging and effective cable avoidance.

Qualifications:

  • LGV Class 2 Licence.
  • Full current driving licence.
  • Vehicle-mounted crane / HIAB certificate.

Essentials:

  • Previous experience in groundworks, excavation, utilities, highways or a similar physical outdoor environment.
  • Experience of safe loading and unloading of work vehicles.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.
  • Understanding of safe excavation practices and underground service/cable avoidance.
